Yesterday ShipsCook visited Ditzum! A little Harbour in the North of Germany close to the border of Holland. Three shrimp boats, a little ferry boat and a few yachts and a lot of sunshine!!

Always good to be at home again! To smell the green grass of home and to reset the familiar views which are changed by nature….an update for your brain!

As the crow flies

When lost or unsure of their position in coastal waters, ships would release a caged crow. The crow would fly straight towards the nearest land. Giving the vessel some sort of a navigational fix. The tallest lookout platform on a ship came to be know as the crow’s nest.

ShipsCook Recipes

People often ask me about the recipes. Well I am more than happy to share my recipes. Every cook has his own style and I can tell you my style is very different!! I believe in simple food, simple in preparation and not too many ingredients. I always cut in the existing recipes, to simplify and make it suitable cooking for larger groups. It is not necessary to have a large range of spices and herbs. Some basic flavourings will do the job. An other key element in my style is presentation. I want my food to look at his best!! (At home and at sea) Because the looks is already 30% of your appetite! (The rest - 30% smell, 30% taste and 10% entertainment will complete the 100% satisfaction score). So take a look or even better give it a go…
